What a beautiful spring we are having! Everything is in bloom and weather is great.

We hope to find everyone in good health and gearing up for our forth coming 2008 Reunion. As most of you already know, we are going to San Antonio, TX on September 25th, 26th, and 27th. The forecast is, “Bien Tiempo will be had by all!”

The accommodations are at the less than one-year old River Walk Drury Plaza Hotel, 105 S. St. Mary’s Street, San Antonio, TX 78205. We chose one of the best Hotels for the value and services, as well as the location to sites of interest, all within walking distance of the hotel. Our accommodations are very nice and as we understand, the service is given with southern hospitality.

RESERVATIONS: Make your own individual reservation by calling 1-800-325-0720. Specify Hotel location, reference: 3973rd AF Security Police group number: 2020300. CUT OFF DATE: Reservations received after July 25, 2008 will be provided on a space-available basis at prevailing rates.

Drury Hotel Cancellation Policy. You can cancel up to 24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL WITHOUT A CANCELLATION FEE.

The Drury Hotel will have complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning. In the afternoon, from 3:00pm until 10:00pm, the hotel serves complimentary soft drinks and popcorn in the lobby. In the early evening, prior to dinner, the Drury Hotel also offers complimentary cocktails including mixed drinks, soda, wine, and beer for your enjoyment.

The reunion committee has worked to bring about a fun time for all. We’ve reached a point where we are in the FINAL PHASE of our reunion planning and at this time we ask for YOUR Commitment to attend our reunion. We ask those of you that have not booked your hotel accommodations to please do so. The reunion committee will work on a head count based on the rooms booked, so we can determine the number of persons for the banquet and transportation to Kelly AFB and transportation for the tour to Lackland AFB.

The reunion committee has a cost factor for the 2008 Reunion:

    Friday: coach transport for the Lackland AFB tour $10.00 per person.

    Saturday: coach transport to & from Kelly AFB for dinner $10.00 per person.

    Saturday: banquet dining at Kelly AFB $28.00 per person

    Reunion registration fee: $12.00 per person

Total cost $60.00 per person. The fees are due upon receipt of this letter. Please send your check payable to the treasurer:

In the memo of your check, please enter 3973rd 2008 Reunion. PLEASE enclose a note with the NAME of your spouse or guests that will be attending the reunion. If for any reason a party cancels their plans to attend the reunion, all monies will be refunded without penalty.

SEPTEMBER 26TH       FRIDAY A.M.  WE WILL GATHER IN THE HOTEL LOBBY
                           FOR TRANSPORTATION TO LACKLAND AIR FORCE
                           BASE.  DEPARTURE TO LACKLAND IS SET FOR 8:15 AM.  
                           WE’RE GOING FOR A GUIDED TOUR OF THE SECURITY 
                           FORCES ACADEMY, AND ON OUR OWN A VISIT TO THE 
                           SECURITY POLICE/FORCES MUSEUM, FOLLOWED BY 
                           LUNCH AT THE GATEWAY CLUB AT LACKLAND IN THE 
                           ALAMO ROOM.   LUNCH WILL BE BUFFET STYLE @ $7.95 
                           PER PERSON.  PAY AS YOU GO.

                           THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY WILL BE OPEN FOR INDIVIDUAL
                           SIGHTSEEING, SHOPPING, AND DINNER ON YOUR OWN.

SEPTEMBER 27TH        AT 3:15 P.M, WE GATHER ON THE HOTEL MEZZANINE LEVEL

(5 MINUTE WALK FROM OUR HOTEL) 

FOR OUR CLOSING DINNER WITH OUR FORMER COMMANDER, LT COLONEL (Retired) DAVID S. WELLS, AS THE M.C., 
AND COLONEL (Retired) JERRY BULLOCK AS THE GUEST SPEAKER.  WE’LL HAVE A RAFFLE, DOOR PRIZES, GOOD FOOD, 
AND A GOOD TIME FOR ALL! 

Each attendee’s registration packet will have a more detailed agenda with area map, trolley car/bus 
info for the River Walk, and information on local sights and points of interest.

We hoped to arrange our limited time so everyone would have the opportunity to either explore 
San Antonio a bit, or relax with other members and make use of all the amenities offered by 
The Drury Plaza. So, pack a bathing suit.  There’s an Olympic size pool on the roof top!!!

Just a note for those that remember Savannah last year.  An umbrella might be a good idea.
